Every thirty-three seconds, someone in the United States dies of cardiovascular disease. Since 1963, February has been designated as American Heart Month. Since 2004, February has been the signature month for women's cardio health awareness campaign known as "Go Red for Women." Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeon Dr. Brian Palafox and heart disease survivor Najla DeBow join KSBR News Director Dawn Kamber on this edition of "Collage."

Collage: Concussions

A concussion is type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. Concussions can change the way the brain operates. KSBR News Report: Point in Time Count v. 2

In order to recieve federal funding, every two years counties across the nation must submit a report of their homeless population. In order to get an accurate count in the OC, over 900 volunteers are organized by 211 OC to count and survey homeless individals. In 2013, the population of homeless individuals in Orange County was 13,000. KSBR's Matt Johnson recounts the experience of a group of volunteers as they perform the survey.

San Clemente High School will observe Blue Ribbon Week during February 1st through February 7th. The school's "Cool 2 B K" Club is organizing various activities for people to get involved. "Cool 2 B K" Club President Victoria Mendez, Public Relations Director Kasia Kosmala-Dahlbeck, and San Clemente High School Principal Michael Halt join KSBR News Director Dawn Kamber on this edition of "Collage."
