Sickle Cell disease is a group of inherited red blood cell disorders. The red blood cells become hard and sticky and look like a "c" shaped farm tool called a "sickle." People with the disease live full lives and enjoy most of the activities that other people do.

Please join KSBR News Director Dawn Kamber as she welcomes Star Simmons, Founder of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Orange County, and Dr. Ron Brathwaite from The Loma Linda University Medical Center Internal Medicine. Star's 26 year old son and a 12 year old daughter suffer from the disease.
